About Us: Staff Officers Council Boards Committees |
The Boards of the Church include The Board of Worship, The Board of Christian Education, The Board of Outreach, The Board of Fellowship, and The Board of Trustees. All board members are elected for three-year terms at the annual meeting. Each year one-third of the membership of each board is replaced. Board members may not be re-elected to the same board unless the member has been off the board for one year. Each Board develops, maintains and submits long range plans annually to the Church Council for improving its particular mission of the Church. Each Board shall propose to the Finance and Stewardship Committee an annual budget to carry out its responsibilities. The Board of Worship The Board of Worship is composed of nine Deacons and nine Deaconesses. In concert with the minister(s), it is responsible for the worship life of the congregation, arranging for meaningful worship and providing a care and concern program for those unable to attend worship services. It is responsible for a Music Committee that consists of the Minister of Music, Organist, Sr. Choir Director, and others as appointed by the Board. The Board of Christian Education The Board of Christian Education is composed of twelve members. In concert with the minister(s), it is responsible for the Christian Education program which involves: reviewing and approving Church School curriculum recruiting and training Church School teachers recruiting and training Vacation Church School teachers the confirmation program the youth fellowship programs nursery staff for worship times and other times related to the activities of the Church development and coordination of the adult education program promoting and recruiting participants for the church camp program. The Board of Outreach The Board of Outreach is composed of nine members. In concert with the minister(s), it collects and reviews information on groups seeking financial support from the Church; informs the Church Council and congregation about opportunities for outreach; and coordinates the offerings for outreach. The Board of Trustees The Board of Trustees is composed of six members. In concert with the minister(s), it is responsible for the church plant, physical property and the custodial, housekeeping and maintenance activities. The Board of Fellowship The Board of Fellowship plans and manages all Church receptions and fellowship times including: after-worship-fellowship; church activities such as hanging of the greens, church picnic, all-church family activities and church retreats; and serves as a point of coordination and support for men’s and women’s fellowships and other special interest groups and clubs. |
